Services
Trillium Psychiatry, PLLC, the Practice, offers psychotherapy and psychopharmacology services to adults 18 years of age or older. In this office you'll be provided a safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings in complete privacy and without judgment. As mental health problems tend to be complex in nature, Dr. Epstein offers comprehensive approach to treatment. Medication alone is rarely enough to address one's difficulties. The combination of psychotropic medications and therapy is much more effective than either alone. If you already have a therapist at another clinic, Dr. Epstein could offer medication management alone while you continue seeing that person, a “split treatment” model. Dr. Epstein also works with people whose loved ones suffer from mental illness offering support and education. Your First Visit
Prior to your consultation visit, you will have a brief phone conversation to determine your needs. During that call you will share the reason you are considering an appointment, your current situation, and the kind of treatment you are looking for. If it seems like we can be helpful, you could schedule an initial consultation. To secure your initial evaluation appointment, we require a $100 deposit. It can be refunded if your insurance covers your visit in full or it can be applied towards your intake fee or copays. Please be mindful that this is a small, part-time, private practice with limited availability, and every appointment is important. Dr. Epstein makes sure to be fully available to both new and current patients, so each late cancellation is very disruptive to him and the other patients that could have been seen in the time set for you. We understand that plans change and emergencies can happen. Your deposit is refundable if you cancel at least 1 full week prior to your appointment. An initial evaluation/consultation usually consists of a 60-90 minutes session. During the initial visit, doctor will gather information, review any records you might have from prior treatments, and answer your questions. You will then decide together whether or not this is the best treatment setting for you. At the end of the evaluation/consultation, an initial treatment plan will be offered and recommendations provided. Sometimes Dr. Epstein meets with patients for two or three sessions to hear a story of what is happening in their life before being able to give recommendations for treatment. This also gives you the opportunity to get to know how he works and to ask all of your questions. The recommendation may include psychotherapy, or psychotherapy combined with a careful trial of a medication. Dr. Epstein may recommend another therapist, if that clinician is better suited for your needs. He may order lab studies to rule out medical causes for your symptoms, and may refer you to other specialists, when indicated. If you are transferring your care from another clinician please be aware that Dr. Epstein does not provide refills on medications on your first evaluation/consultation visit. Although most patients continue regular appointments here, some can be seen once or twice for a consultation and then may choose to return to their primary care provider for continuing medications. Other patients are seeking a one-time consultation or a second opinion of an evaluation they have received elsewhere. FOLLOW UPS
If you have another therapist and Dr. Epstein will mainly help you with medications, then short medication review visits are generally sufficient. If you have multiple issues you would like to address you may need to schedule a 45-minute appointment. |
